Clermont Middle School, located on East Avenue directly across from Cypress Ridge Elementary, will be transitioning to a K-8th grade facility. The school will be named in memory of Aurelia M. Cole, a lifelong resident of Clermont who passed away in 2018.

Mrs. Cole graduated from Tuskegee University and returned to Clermont to become Dean of Students at Clermont High School, Assistant Principal at Mount Dora High School, Gray Middle School and Clermont Middle School. She became principal at East Ridge High School and served as Assistant Superintendent of Administration and safety.  She was the co-founder of South Lake Historical Society and president-elect of the Clermont Kiwanis Club.  She was an active member of New Jacob’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
