Visit Lake, the City of Clermont and the American Cornhole Organization (ACO) are partnering to host the ACO Florida State Championships of Cornhole – Season 14. The event will be held May 24 – 25 at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center, 3700 S. U.S. Highway 27 in Clermont.

Cornhole is one of the fastest growing sports in North America and has skyrocketed in popularity over the last decade. The simple and social game can be played by kids, adults and seniors and has expanded from a tailgate staple to a sanctioned sport, even being broadcast on ESPN.

“Visit Lake is thrilled to welcome this wonderful event to our county and we are extremely excited to welcome participants, supporters, friends and family to the perfect location for this event,” said Visit Lake Associate Director Kathy Pagan. “Lake County boasts many cornhole fans who have long-enjoyed this sport, a sport that offers something for everyone and great fun for all ages.”

Clermont City Manager Darren Gray said, “As the Choice of Champions, the City of Clermont is happy to host yet another championship. We wish all the cornhole competitors well and we invite them to enjoy Clermont’s many shopping and dining options, including our new downtown breweries and restaurants.”

Players from all over the state are expected to participate, with gates opening at 2 pm on May 24 for the Womens, Juniors and Co-ed Double competitions. On May 25, gates open at 8:30 am for World Singles beginning at 10 am and World Doubles at 4 pm.

“We’re extremely excited to have partnered with Visit Lake County Florida to host the ACO Florida States. We believe that Clermont, FL is going to be a great host city for this event in May of 2019 and we hope a home to many more ACO events in the future,” said Frank Geers, President of American Cornhole, LLC.

All events are open to the public. Players will compete for a $1,500 prize and all divisions will offer cash and/or prizes to the top finishers, as well as prize jerseys to all state champions. Players must be residents of the state of Florida and can register for all events at www.AmericanCornhole.com/events.
