On May 29, 2019 Groveland Works hosted a reception to honor Kevin Thibault, the Secretary for the Florida Department of Transportation.  He was named Secretary of the FDOT by Governor Ron DeSantis on January 18.

Secretary Thibault most recently served as the Southeast Regional Senior Vice President of TranSystems Corporation and has extensive experience in state government having previously served in senior leadership positions with the Florida Department of Transportation for more than 16 years.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Groveland Works is a nonprofit 501c3 organization recently formed with a sole focus on Groveland.  The Mission of Groveland Works is to provide a unified voice for Groveland residents and business owners to support robust economic development, rewarding jobs, and a greater quality of life for its residents.

“We are very excited to honor the FDOT Secretary, and we are fortunate that he is a resident of the City of Groveland,” said Philip Fulmer, Chairman of Groveland Works.  “Transportation issues are of huge importance within Groveland.  We have U.S. Highway 27, State Roads 50, 19 and 33, and the Florida Turnpike all running through Groveland, these are major roads with major traffic.  Having the Secretary of Transportation residing in Groveland is a major benefit.”

“It is a pleasure to sponsor and support the effort in honoring Secretary Thibault,” said Bill (William) Lloyd of R.K.M. Development Corporation.  “Groveland is growing and transportation infrastructure is very important.”
