On August 14 at 11 am, Animal League volunteers and a few and their furry friends excitedly gathered at Petco-Clermont, 2561 E. Highway 50, Clermont, to receive a $10,000 grant from the Petco Foundation.

As one of the nation’s largest funders of animal welfare causes, the Foundation supports non-profit animal organizations that care for animals in need, fight pet cancer, and celebrate Helping Hero therapy and working animals. Petco Foundation invests donor dollars in organizations that work to achieve pets lifesaving goals.

Deb Munini Schwartz, Animal League volunteer/event coordinator, said the grant will be used toward a “senior center”,  a place for senior animals to hang out and relax while they wait for their furrever home”.

The Animal League is located at 4648 Baptist Island Road in Groveland, just 4 miles north of Highway 50 and Highway 33.  The Animal League Adoption Center hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10am-6pm.  They have puppies and kittens to seniors, large and small breeds, purebreds and mixed breed – there is something for everyone! All the pets are up to date on vaccines and treatments, spayed or neutered, and come with a registered microchip. For additional information please contact the Adoption Center at 352-429-6334.
