Two men suspected of attempted homicide were arrested earlier this afternoon without incident.  Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) warrants units with the assistance of Clermont Police detectives took Mr. David Simpson and Mr. Marcus Brown into custody following a traffic stop in Minneola, Florida.

On June 14, 2020, the Clermont Police Department (CPD) was called to the 400 block of E. Desoto Street, in Clermont for a report of two men firing handguns.  Officers quickly responded and found that no one had been injured and discovered evidence that several rounds had been fired in the area.  Clermont Police Department detectives responded and spoke with the apparent intended target, an adult male from Clermont.  Detectives also spoke with several eyewitnesses and identified the suspects as Mr. David Chandler William Simpson, a 24 year old male with a last known address in Clermont, and Mr. Marcus Brown, a 22 year old male also with a last known address in Clermont.

CPD Officers and LCSO Deputies attempted to locate the suspects at prior known addresses without success.  However, CPD detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants for the suspects for the following charges – attempted homicide in the first degree, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and conspiracy.

On June 15, 2020, LCSO warrants units along with CPD detectives observed a vehicle being driven by the suspects in the area of Old Highway 50, in Minneola, Florida.  A traffic stop was conducted and the suspects were taken into custody without incident.  They were transported to the Lake County Jail with a $300,000 bond.
