Little Library at Historic Village

There is a new “Little Library” in town and it is located at Clermont’s Historic Village.  The Library currently has a nice collection of children’s books on the lowest shelf (for easy access for the younger generation) and a wide variety of books both classic and modern for older readers.  There is even one audiobook.  Like other “Little Libraries” this one is free to anyone who would like to take and read a book.  It is requested that if you take one, you add one.  Any and all book donations are gratefully accepted.  There is a national registry for “Little Libraries” and the Clermont Historical Society is in the process of getting this library on it. That way, visitors from all over America who visit Clermont will know that we are a city that loves to read!

The Historic Village is located at 490 West Avenue on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola, just a few short blocks from the historic, downtown shopping district with its unique stores, kiosks, breweries and eateries.  Combining a visit to the Village with a stroll downtown and a bite to eat is a great way to spend a fall weekend afternoon.  The Village is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.  There are lots of interesting antiques on display in every building, tour guides are on hand to answer questions and fun souvenirs are on sale.  Admission is always free however, a donation of $5.00 per person over 12 years is requested.

If you are interested in the history of Clermont or in history in general, why not consider joining the Clermont Historical Society?  Membership is just $25.00 per person or $35.00 for a couple annually.  At this time only board members are attending the society’s monthly meetings which are held on the second Monday of each month but members and guests are invited to join via Zoom.  You can also see lots of pictures and information about the Village on our Facebook page.  A new website will be launching soon.  For questions or further information please call 352-242-7734.  We hope to see you all now that the Village is reopened.  Stay hopeful and safe!
