Sheriff Bike Giveaway

Montverde Academy Upper School students shared their holiday spirit and commitment to community with the annual build-a-bike event. Twenty youth bicycles were assembled by Upper School students and members of UNICEF, KeyClub, Tech Theater, and the Head of School’s Leadership Institute. Once assembled, the bikes ” are fine-tuned by an experienced bike repairman and donated to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, who presented the bikes to the Salvation Army to benefit Lake County families in need this holiday season.

“I am grateful for the students, faculty and staff of MVA” said Peyton Grinnell, Lake County Sheriff and Salvation Army Board Member. “Thank you for your continued support of the Sheriff’s charities and your annual donation of numerous bicycles. Because of our continued partnership with MVA, the holiday season will be a little brighter for many deserving children in our communities.”

MVA’s Lower and Middle School students also participated in projects to benefit the community. Lower School students and families collected shoes for the ‘One Two, Buckle My Shoe Drive.’ The shoes were donated to the Lake County Public Schools and distributed to needy children and teens in the South Lake community. Students and faculty in the Middle School participated in Casual for a Cause, a student-driven fundraiser, where a donation was made for the chance to don Christmas pajamas for a day in lieu of the school uniform. The event raised more than $300 for Second Harvest Food Bank and the MVA Builder’s Club did the Angel Tree with the Salvation Army in Leesburg.
