Last Thursday, the Lake Minneola High School’s football team traveled to Tallahassee with high expectations of becoming this year’s state champions. The next afternoon, the Hawks (11-2) played Miami Central (7-1) for the state title at Bobby Bowden Field-Doak Campbell Stadium.

Though the Hawks appeared to be overwhelmed by the unfamiliar circumstances, they played the game, gained experience and, in spite of the pandemic and the many challenges that followed in its wake, overcame all obstacles and did something that no Lake County High School Football team has done in close to 40 years– brought Lake to the State Championship.

The Lake Minneola Hawks are South Lake Champions! Congratulations.
