REVISED: No Appointments Necessary To Receive The COVID-19 Vaccine. During Phase One The Vaccine Is Available For High-Risk Frontline Health Care Workers And Those 65 And Older

Starting Friday, January 1^st, 2021 all Florida Department of Health in Lake County (DOH-Lake) COVID-19 Vaccine Sites will be open Mondays thru Saturdays on a first-come, first- served basis. Appointments will not be accepted.  All previous scheduled appointments will be honored.

As per Executive Order 20-315, during this first phase we will be vaccinating the following populations:

• Long-term care facility residents and staff;
• Persons 65 years of age and older; and
• Health Care personnel with direct patient contact

There is no fee for the vaccine, and appointments are not necessary.  As a reminder, vaccinations will begin at 9:00 a.m. based on availability. On a first-come, first-serve basis for residents and non-residents. Please bring identification and, if you are a healthcare worker, a copy of your medical license, ID badge or a current paystub.

Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine

On December 18, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the second vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019, COVID-19. The Moderna vaccine is a 2-dose series separated by 28 days.

According to CDC, both this disease and the vaccine are new.  We don’t know how long protection lasts for those who get infected or those who are vaccinated. What we do know is that COVID-19 has caused very serious illness and death for a lot of people. If you get COVID-19, you risk giving it to loved ones who may get very sick. Getting a COVID-19 vaccine is a safer choice.
