The South Lake community came together this week to help the Easter Bunny fill and distribute Easter gift baskets. Event coordinator Kalena Meyers, with the help of the Kiwanis Club of Clermont, Police Chief Broadway along with members of the Clermont Police Department, Hope Center, Read to Sydney, Christian Men In Action, The Kristin Jamieson Mortgage Team, Clermont Mayor Tim Murry, councilmember Michelle Pines, and numerous volunteers and sponsors helped make the Easter basket project a successful event.

The volunteers filled over 300 baskets at the Hope Center, with coloring books, crayons, bubbles, stuffed animals, toys, books, snacks, candies and many more exciting goodies. Families in need from across South Lake were invited to two different drive-through events at Clermont Elementary School and at the Montverde Home Community Clubhouse. To keep everything very safe and socially distant, there was no need for anyone to get out of their cars.
