The Tuesday, July 27, Clermont City Council Meeting was filled with announcements of change.

Susan Dauderis

Susan Dauderis, Clermont’s Interim City Managertook the temporary position in December of 2020 when the then City Manager Darren Gray resigned.  Dauderis recently announced that her last day will be September 3. Wishing you the very best Susan.

Scott Davidoff

Scott Davidoff, Clermont Parks & Recreation Director, has been appointed as the interim City Manager until the position can be permanently filled.

On Monday, July 26, a special council meeting was held to discuss the evaluation of City Manager applicants and timeline. Final interviews are tentatively scheduled for September 9-10.

Kathryn Deen

 

Kathryn Deen, Clermont Communications Director, has given notice. It was announced that her last day is August 13.

The Clermont City Center, located at 620 Montrose St., will be closed while the building’s geo/structural engineering stability is evaluated. It was noticed that the northeast corner wall of the building has slightly shifted.  Jeff Powell of Powell Studio Architecture was called to determine if there is any structural damage to the building. Until the evaluation is completed, the building will remain closed.

Trash accumulation in the Downtown Business district. Council approved trash to be collected on multiple days in the Downtown Business District at the associated customer payment structure. A long-term MasterPlan will be developed.

Art District – The council voted to temporarily deny all permits requested on projects at the Downtown Art District

Lunch with the Mayor will be held on the 1st Monday of every month at noon.  The first of the Mayor’s luncheons will be held at Outback Steakhouse Restaurant, located at 1625 East Highway 50, Clermont. Each month the lunch and learn will be held in a different location.

“Awake America” – Pastor Caleb Green of The River Church spoke to the council about a three-day event that his church will hold at Waterfront Park on September 23- 25, 2021. The organization will have live music at the event each evening from 5-9 pm. It will be open to the public with an estimated attendance of up to 1,500 each night.

CDC Updates – Mayor Murry announced that the CDC had released several updates on July 27 to its recommendations for fully vaccinated people. The CDC recommends fully vaccinated people wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission.
