Clermont Police are currently investigating a two-vehicle crash with one fatality and five individuals with serious injuries in the area of S Highway 27 and Legendary Boulevard. On January 11, 2022, at approximately 5:57 p.m., Clermont Police Officers responded to the intersection of South Highway 27 and Legendary Boulevard regarding a rollover vehicle crash with entrapment. Upon arrival, officers observed multiple subjects entrapped in both vehicles involved. At this time in the investigation, it appears that the white BMW was traveling northbound on South Highway 27 and for an unknown reason crossed over into the southbound lanes. As the BMW crossed into the southbound lane, it landed on a red Chevrolet Colorado that was traveling in the southbound lane on South Highway 27. The front-seat passenger in the BMW was pronounced deceased on the scene. Three individuals were airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center and two other individuals were transported to local hospitals by Lake EMS.

Lake County Schools released the following statement:

“East Ridge High School and the entire Lake County Schools family is holding close in our hearts our students who were involved in a tragic automobile accident last night.  We are mourning the loss and wishing the very best for those who are still being treated for injuries. We send love and light to these ERHS Knights and their families.”

Lake County Schoolboard has its Crisis Response Team assisting with grief counseling at East Ridge High school, where the juveniles that were involved attended. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office also has a therapy dog on site.
