A dispute resulting in litigation between VP Development Enterprises, The Art District, and the City of Clermont has resulted in misunderstandings and hard feelings. On March 22, the Clermont City Council members unanimously voted to resolve litigations and reach an agreement with all parties for the good of the city.

Highlights of the agreement:

  • The city will purchase approximately .856 acres of real property from NEXBIZ, LLC for $1,566,000 for the city’s intended use as a parking facility. The property, located on 7th and the south side of Minneola Avenue (across from Suncreek Brewery), will add approximately 80 new public parking spaces to the downtown area. City Manager Brian Bulthuis noted the parking area will not take long to complete and is less costly than the proposed parking garage considered earlier this year. (see PARKING GARAGE PROPOSAL)
  • The completion by the city of certain sidewalk/access path, water, sewer and stormwater improvements.
  • The city will purchase  .0009 of real property as surplus property and transfer to the Art District
  • A payment of $250,000 from the city to VP Development Enterprises.

The funding for these items is not in the current approved budget.
