Groveland has continued to proudly celebrate its centennial with special April festival events.  The third in a series of celebrations was filled with food, entertainment, demonstrations, races and activities for the entire family. Residents, local dignitaries, and out-of-town guests came to Lake David Park to celebrate Groveland’s 100 Years of Memories.

On Saturday, April 23, sunshine and comfortable weather enhanced the full day of international food trucks, a special Game Truck, and a complete historic showcase, representing the last 100 years as well as the next 50 years. The day featured live musical entertainment with the Trickle Down Band, the Tabasco Band and Randall Crawford, all performing at the Lake David Park Pavilion. Barefoot Water Ski competitions were held and Stunt Dudes brought in bicyclists from across the globe to share their talents. Bike Florida was there with free treats, safety vests and information on how to best enjoy biking in Florida.

There was a fun Kids Zone with their splash pad, a rock-climbing wall, family-friendly races, games and contests. The Groveland Historical Museum was open with free exhibits.

The Groveland Strategic Planning Commission shared a complete showcase presentation on the future annex and realignment of the roads.

City Councilman Mike Smith shared, “I would like to thank the numerous sponsors who have made the Groveland Centennial activities possible over the last two months. It is wonderful to see these companies and individuals committed to the future of Groveland and to being a part of the community and its future”.

Mayor Evelyn Wilson proudly noted, “As Florida’s second-fastest growing city, we are now a growing and important mark on the Florida map”.
