Mark Grenier, State Board appointee, May 2022

CLERMONT – When Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis selected his six picks to replenish the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board earlier this week, Clermont’s Building Official Mark Grenier was on that list.

“Mark is very knowledgeable and has tons of experience and certifications, so we are really proud to have him selected by the Governor,” Building Services Director Lisa Widican said. “We know he will work as hard and as diligently for this board as he does for the City of Clermont.”

The Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board approves the applications of individuals who have the experience, education and desire to become a building inspector, a plans examiner or a building official in Florida. The applicants approved by the board then have to pass a written test to be eligible for hire.

“I have worked with many associations and organizations that help guide and govern the building industry in Florida,” Grenier said. “We are behind in processing applications due to the vacancies on this board, so now I’ll be able to help get qualified people in positions that are so important for the positive growth of our state.”

Grenier received his degree in construction safety from Columbia Southern University in Alabama. He has worked in many areas of the construction industry and has more than 21 years of experience as a licensed building official in Florida, more than 15 of those years in Clermont.

The Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board meets six times a year at various locations across the state to review as many as 2,500 applications.

MARK, CONGRATULATIONS!
