Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway

CLERMONT – While the “dog days” of summer are usually dreaded, Clermont is celebrating dogs of all shapes and sizes with the second annual “Pups in the Park” event Saturday, June 11.

Last year’s inaugural event was an idea to expand the popular “Coffee with a Cop” program and encourage more residents to get to know local police officers.

“Since so many of our residents and visitors have dogs in their families, we thought this was a good way to meet even more people and some pretty cool dogs,” Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway said. “When an officer is needed, it is usually a very stressful situation. This offers a fun, relaxed opportunity to meet your Clermont Police Officers.”

Clermont Police Officers will be serving “puppaccinos” throughout the event at Lake Hiawatha Preserve, 450 12th Street. An obstacle course, a DJ for music and vendors offering treats for people and pups will round out a fun day.

A doggie swimsuit completion will begin at 10 a.m. with prizes awarded to the best-dressed male, best-dressed female, most creative and honorable mention pups.

Humans are encouraged to bring their four-legged canine friends and be ready for an exciting day to celebrate pups and police officers on a fun Clermont Saturday. For more information, please visit www.Clermontfl.gov.
