The Kiwanis Club of South Lake was thrilled to welcome Koda the Fluff to its June 2 meeting.  Koda drove her firey red convertible into the meeting and spoke (ok…. Koda’s loving momager Jena McKinstry did the speaking) to the club about her work as a therapy dog.  Koda is a 7-year-old super cool Pomeranian who is the pioneer, and the first member of Smiles Fur Miles, a non-profit organization consisting of specially trained dogs that ride around in cars providing a specialized form of pet therapy.  These therapy dogs bring happiness to first responders, local schools and businesses, and work with police departments on driver safety education in the community.

Koda recently hosted three families for a fun weekend at the Lake Louisa Chateau.  Each of the families had a tough year and were overdue for something great!  Koda partnered with the owner of the home and local businesses and organizations to provide some fun quality time away from the stresses of everyday life.  The families enjoyed delicious meals, swimming, boating, playing games in the on-site arcade, and even riding a unicorn!  Said one parent, “We don’t get to do stuff like this.  This was really great for our family to go on this adventure.  Said another, “This has been beyond a blessing.  We’re very thankful for you.”  Koda gave kisses and brought smiles to all of her visitors.

If you would like to help Koda continue with her awesome adventures in the community, would like to schedule a visit, or would simply like to learn more, visit kodathefluff.com.
