White Cane Day,  October 15 – Clermont Mayor Tim Murry proclaimed October 15th as White Cane Safety Day to recognize the contributions of Americans who are blind or have low vision.  

Praising First Responders And City Staff – Clermont City Manager Brian Bulthuis announced that 95% of the tree limbs and trash caused by Hurricane Ian has been cleaned up and thanked the staff for all they did during the emergency. City Council also thanked emergency response teams for a job well done.  

New Website – The City will be launching a new website with such features as easy ADA Accessibility and an improved search engine. The project has been ongoing since last March. Information will be migrated to the new site. Website training for the staff will be held next week then the site will go live.

Mirror Lake Subdivision – The applicant, Nick Asma, requested six variances to the Land Development Code to allow for the construction of a 21-lot single-family residential subdivision. The vacant parcel is located on the south side of Old Highway 50, just west of the Greater Hills Subdivision. The zoning is R-1 Single Family Medium Density Residential with a Low-Density Residential Land Use. After deliberation and no negative feedback from those attending, the request was approved.

Wellness Way  – The request to approve 952 residential units plus commercial use on Schoefield Road in the Wellness Way area was approved by Clermont City Council on October 11. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has indicated Wellness Way Boulevard will need to be constructed prior to developing the subject property. In addition, The Lake County School Board has expressed concern over student capacity and available school sites in the South Lake County Area. City Manager Bultuis said the developer is actively working with the School Board on high school and elementary school sites.
