The City of Groveland will host a weekend series of charming holiday events for the community to enjoy. This year’s 31st annual celebration theme is Christmas Cheer Throughout the Years, dedicated to highlighting Groveland’s seasonal traditions as part of the conclusion to the centennial anniversary series.
“Groveland has been celebrating our 100th birthday all year long,” says Mayor Evelyn Wilson. “Celebrations are a beloved community tradition in Groveland, with holiday events being one of our most sentimental festivities.”
The holiday weekend events:
•Second Friday Holiday Market: Friday, December 9th, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Lake David Park, 450 South Lake Avenue. Come support your local food trucks and unique craft vendors while listening to live, groovy musical performances by the Randall Crawford Band and local schools.
•Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause Photo Meet and Greet: Friday, December 9th, 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the E.L. Puryear Building, 243 South Lake Avenue. Children are encouraged to bring their letter(s) to Santa to drop in the North Pole mailbox, or create them on the spot. Families are responsible for taking their own photos, no professional photography will be available.
•Tree Lighting Ceremony: Friday, December 9th, 7:00 PM outside the E.L. Puryear Building, 243 South Lake Avenue. The overflow of attendees will be able to view the tree lighting ceremony from Lake David Park.
•Groveland’s 31st Annual Christmas Parade: Saturday, December 10th, at 10:00 AM beginning at the intersection of Cherry Street and Indiana Avenue, and ending at the intersection of Magnolia Street and Iowa Avenue near the Gray Middle School field.
