Charity Across South Lake is in full operation preparing for the third annual Christmas Across South Lake toy giveaway program. The program serves families in the South Lake County area that need a helping hand to make Christmas a memorable event for children of all ages.

The program began in 2020 when the Covid pandemic left many families unemployed or lacking the necessary funds to provide gifts for their families. Many local non-profit organizations that normally assisted families with such programs found themselves unable to accommodate those programs due to pandemic restrictions. Those organizations, along with volunteers and community sponsors came together to create Charity Across South Lake. In its first year, the organization supplied gifts to two-thousand children and food to four-hundred-fifty families.
Fast forward two years, the estimated goal is currently 3,700 children with a registration list that continues to grow. Donations have been plentiful thanks to the community and toy box drop-off locations, as well as corporate and non-profit organization sponsors. Spokesperson Renee Lowe quickly points out the deep appreciation to so many unsung heroes that make this unique program a growing success each year of operation. A huge shout out to our donors, volunteers, sponsors, bicycle assembly crews and many others who give so much for so many, says Lowe.
Volunteers are always needed and appreciated. Information can be found at AcrossSouthLake.org for a complete list of toy drop-off locations and volunteer registration opportunities.
