East Ridge Middle defeated Mount Dora Middle  3-0 on Thursday evening to win the Lake County Soccer Championship.

Mount Dora came into the championship game undefeated with a record of 10-0.  East Ridge had a record of 9-1, with their only loss coming to Gray Middle (Groveland) in the 2nd game of the season.

All three of East Ridge’s goals came in the first half from Samuel Lorduy (8th), Gabriel Melendez (8th) and David Huampa (8th).  Mount Dora had a player ejected in the first half of the game and had to play with 10 players for the remainder of the game.  The ejection was due to a foul committed by the last defender on a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

“I’m thankful that our kids were able to experience the excitement of playing in a championship game and bringing home a trophy.  They worked hard all season so it’s great to see them celebrate,” said East Ridge Middle coach Josh Castleman.
