Lake Technical College – For nearly six decades, Lake Technical College has stood as the cornerstone of Lake County’s educational landscape, renowned for its commitment to delivering top-tier workforce training programs. This longstanding dedication is exemplified through consistent successes in student completion rates, job placement outcomes, and impressive certification and exam pass rates across various fields.
The Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician – Combined Class #134 has achieved a monumental milestone with a flawless 100% passing rate on the rigorous state fire practical exam. This accomplishment marks a significant achievement for the program, which spans 792 intensive hours of training. Among these, 300 hours are dedicated to Emergency Medical Technician content, while 492 hours are focused on firefighter training, preparing students comprehensively over a demanding five-month period.
“This outstanding achievement underscores the dedication and expertise of our faculty, who bring extensive real-world experience into the classroom,” said LTC Executive Director DeAnna Thomas. “Many of our faculty members continue to serve actively in the field, ensuring students receive cutting-edge training that prepares them for any challenge. I commend both our faculty and students for this remarkable accomplishment!”
Led by the stringent guidelines of Rule 69A-37.055 of the Florida Administrative Code, the program is designed to forge resilient and highly skilled firefighters. It demands unwavering dedication and commitment from its participants, affirming that only the most determined and capable individuals succeed.
Interim Fire Academy and EMS Programs Director Eric Harper emphasized the difficult nature of the journey: “This accomplishment is not just an indication of academic achievement but a triumph over personal adversity for many of our students. I have been with these students since day one and have witnessed firsthand the challenges many have overcome to reach this milestone. Their perseverance is inspiring and I’m very proud!”
