The event, organized by Bill Burnett of Streamline Events and run in conjunction with the 2024 USA Triathlon Clermont Age Group Challenge Cup, will crown women’s collegiate champions for Division I (DI), Division II (DII) and Division III (DIII) schools from across the nation.

Clermont hosted the first-ever Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championships in 2014, and the Florida city with a rich triathlon history is primed to host again the premier varsity collegiate triathlon race of the season.

“We’re looking forward to an exciting Women’s Collegiate Triathlon season, capped by the National Championships in Clermont, Florida, one of the most storied triathlon meccas in the country,” said Tim Yount, Chief Sport Development Officer at USA Triathlon. “Bill and his team have done a tremendous job hosting multisport events throughout the years, and I have no doubt the athletes from the more than 40 NCAA programs racing at Nationals will have an amazing, first-class experience.”

“On behalf of our partners, the City of Clermont and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, we are thrilled to have been selected to host the upcoming Women’s Collegiate National Championships in Lake County,” said Ryan Ritchie, Director of Discover Lake County, Florida – Office of Tourism and Sports. “Without the support from the Lake County Board of County Commissioners and Tourist Development Council, opportunities like this would not be possible. Events like this, create national exposure and bring attention to our first-class facilities in Lake County, as well as enhancing our economic development and impact with college athletes, visitors, and families visiting our communities.”

An NCAA Emerging Sport for Women, women’s collegiate triathlon features the same fast, tactical, and draft-legal racing that is contested at the elite level, including the Olympics and World Triathlon Championship Series. More than 40 schools offer women’s collegiate triathlon at the varsity level, an important benchmark reached in 2022 as the NCAA Emerging Sport for Women now has a few more steps to take on its way to being fully managed by the NCAA as a Championship Sport. The race venue for the Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championships is located within Lake Louisa State Park, providing an ideal setting for a draft-legal race. Just a short drive from Orlando, Lake Louisa State Park is renowned for its beautiful lakes, rolling hills, and scenic landscapes. The race course is completely closed to traffic, ensuring a safe and exciting environment, while spectators will find ample spots to cheer on the athletes throughout this thrilling race.

Lenoir-Rhyne University of Hickory, North Carolina, won its second consecutive Division II title, while North Central College of Naperville, Illinois, won its second consecutive national title in Division III, and fifth overall in the program’s history.

Also during race weekend, Streamline Events will host the 2024 USA Triathlon Clermont Age Group Challenge Cup. The aquathlon (swim-run) race offers age group athletes the opportunity to qualify for the 2025 World Triathlon Aquathlon World Championships, earn USA Triathlon Rankings points for 2024 and race in warm-weather Florida to cap the 2024 season. Registration is currently open at www.draftlegalchallenge.com/challenge-cup.
