On Thursday, March 27, at East Ridge High School, six student-athletes signed their letters of intent to participate in college athletics for the following school year.  One of those student-athletes was senior Hanna Warren, who signed her letter of intent with Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida.  Hanna will join Flagler’s women’s cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field teams in the fall of 2025.

Hanna has been a four-year letterman in both cross country and track and field at East Ridge High School. Hanna’s efforts have helped lead her cross country team to great accomplishments over the years – including two county championships, three district championships, and the school’s first regional championship.  When asked about what accomplishments she was most proud of as a cross country runner, Hanna responded, “I am most proud of our team’s district and regional titles as well as having the opportunity to compete at the state level and national level.”  Hanna’s junior and senior seasons produced impressive individual results and garnered the attention of several college coaches. However, it was in October of her senior year when Hanna was detected on the Flagler coaching staff’s radar.

A few weeks later, the Flagler head coach and assistant coach traveled to Tallahassee to watch Hanna compete in the cross country state championships. After her spectacular performance at the state meet, the talks got a little more serious. On two occasions, Hanna visited the historic Flagler campus, and it wasn’t long after those visitations that she made her decision to become a Saint.

Hanna did have some final words of wisdom for her underclass teammates that she will be leaving behind when she attends Flagler, and that was for them, “to ensure they are taking care of themselves, so that they can continue to be strong and get faster. They should also have faith in themselves and be sure to take every opportunity because you never know where it can lead.”
