The Lake County Board of County Commissioners, in partnership with the Lake County Historical Society and the City of Tavares, invites the community to gather in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost during the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
The remembrance ceremony will take place on Friday, Sept. 11, at 9 am in the rotunda of the Lake County Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St. in Tavares.
The ceremony will feature Mount Dora High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) cadets performing a Table of Honor (a solemn tribute to those no longer with us). Lake County Teen Court participants will also take part in the observance by reading the names of victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.
“Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor the lives lost on September 11 and the countless acts of courage and sacrifice associated with that tragic event,” said Leslie Campione, Chairman of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners. “This ceremony gives our community an opportunity to stand together in remembrance and ensure the bravery shown that day is never forgotten.”
Lake County invites residents to come together as a community to recognize the sacrifices made and reflect on the courage and unity that emerged in the face of tragedy.
