The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra will hold its last two concerts on March 15-16 and April 19-20.
On Thursday, March 15 in Eustis at the Epiphany Celebration Anglican Church and Friday, March 16 in Clermont at the Family Christian Center, corner of Steve’s Road and Rte 27. (This venue is changed from Shepherd of the Hills Church because of their roof reparation schedule). Concerts begin at 7:30 pm.
The March concerts have the appropriate title: “LOVE STORIES”. Sten Heinoja, virtuoso young pianist from Estonia, will be performing the beloved Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2. Also included in the program is the haunting “Somewhere in Time” from the movie with music based on the Rachmaninov classic. “Love is a Many Splendored Thing”, “Unchained Melody” (from the movie “Ghost”), the Kiss from “Last of the Mohicans”, theme from “Far and Away”, “Danny Boy”, “Fantasia on Greensleeves” and “Lord of the Dance” will complete the two evenings of romantic music and tipping the hat to St. Patrick’s Day. Guest conductor for this series is the wonderful Bulgarian master, Alexei Izmirliev.
The second performance and last performance of the series will be held April 19 in Eustis and April 20 in Clermont at the same respective venues and times.
The title of this series is “HOME ON THE RANGE”. Shungo Moriyama will be the conductor. The repertoire is decidedly a “Cowboy Serenade” and includes “Rodeo”, “Ghost Riders in the Sky”, “Turkey in the Straw”, “The Wild Wild West”, and many other stirring cowboy pieces.
