South Lake County’s Robotics Team 8057 – All Wired Up

By The South Lake County Robotic Team # 8057

We wanted to take a moment to re-introduce ourselves to South Lake County. All Wired Up, founded in June 2019, is a youth robotics program for all middle and high school students in South Lake County, regardless of what school you attend, and for homeschooled students. We participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition, with our regional event held every March at the University of Central Florida. We build robots that weigh up to 125 pounds and as tall as 5 feet.

All Wired Up is open for new students with an interest in expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering, programming, marketing, PR, graphic design, social media, and more. We are also looking for community members willing to share their expertise in those areas. Team 8057 is also working to engage those in the South Lake community willing to sponsor the team or help with donations.

When our beloved students become a part of our team, they gain skills that they would prior be oblivious to. We help to give such knowledge to (what is to be considered the future) children that otherwise would be completely unavailable. The all-important learnings that our students gain can and will be used in future careers. From engineering to graphics design to finance and more! And our student base consists of the widest range of personalities. Our members would never have interacted or crossed paths with each other had it not been for our team. It is a fun way of socializing with other kids of the same age, hanging out, and building robots. Our team is not only socially beneficial but also has educational benefits. It gives our students volunteer opportunities and bright futures. And you get to build amazing robots and take them to compete in various competitions in the area and even possibly nationally.

All Wired Up operates as a program under a local nonprofit organization, Mom’s Guide to Robotics. When nonprofit organizations such as ourselves are funded, it takes off a percentage of the companies’ taxes; a win-win scenario if you will. Not only this, but when funded by a sponsor, we then put their logo on our shirts, banners, or even our robot. By sponsoring us you would not only help us achieve our goals but help to strengthen the brother and sisterhood that is our community.

Small financial donations or in-kind donations of tools, materials or even lunches during our build season Saturdays are an easy way to support the youth of our community.

As to our ever-important mentors, it gives those who yearn for a teaching opportunity a chance to shine. If teaching’s not your forte, then think of it as a chance to connect with your kids on a closer level with a common interest and goal: a working robot to bring to competition and (hopefully) dominate with. A unique and wonderful experience to share.

Every bit helps and we look forward to seeing you soon, however your interest in us may be.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and what we do best!
