The Orlando Cat Café is inviting government workers and their families impacted by the shutdown to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee and free admission to the Cat Play Area. Customers can make their reservation online as normal, and just bring proof of employment when they arrive for their reservation.
“We really wanted to do something for those affected, including their families,” said Sandra Cagan, owner of the Orlando Cat Café. “Spending time with the kitties is not only a fun outing for everyone, but it can also help reduce stress.”
Science backs that up. A study published in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Neurology found that cat owners had a 30% lower risk of heart attack or stroke compared to non-owners—likely because interacting with cats helps lower stress-related hormones.
The Orlando Cat Café is home to 18–28 adoptable cats and kittens, all ready to offer a little extra comfort and companionship during this difficult time. Located at 532 Cagan Park Avenue in the Cagan Crossings Town Center—just 4 miles west of Disney’s Animal Kingdom—the café encourages guests to make reservations at www.orlandocatcafe.com.
