Patients and families at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital received an unexpected dose of holiday magic on Tuesday as the hospital partnered with the Clermont Fire Department and Lake County Fire Rescue to deliver smiles from above.

Using ladder trucks raised alongside the hospital’s five-story bed tower, Santa Claus, his cheerful elf friends—and even the mischievous Grinch—made a festive appearance outside patient windows. Waving, dancing, and striking playful poses, the holiday visitors wished everyone inside a happy holiday season, turning an ordinary day into a memorable celebration.

For patients unable to leave their rooms, the surprise brought laughter and joy straight to their windows. Families and staff paused to watch as the colorful characters moved from floor to floor, spreading cheer and reminding everyone that the spirit of the season reaches even the highest heights.

Hospital leaders expressed appreciation for the collaboration, noting that moments like these can lift spirits and brighten the healing environment during the holidays. The Clermont Fire Department and Lake County Fire Rescue were equally thrilled to be part of the event, combining community service with seasonal fun.

As Santa and his crew wrapped up their visit, one thing was clear: teamwork, compassion, and a little holiday flair can go a long way—especially when delivered five stories up.
