Every month from September through May, Clermont Garden Club members loan plants to Cooper Memorial Library and Clermont City Hall to promote horticulture awareness and connect our community to Clermont Garden Club’s programs, civic activities and community outreach.
For the month of May 2026, Clermont Garden Club member Diane Wilson loaned a Sansevieriacylindrica ‘Boncel’ (Starfish Snake Plant) to Cooper Memorial Library. The Starfish Snake Plant is a compact, star-shaped succulent with thick, cylindrical leaves in grayish-green with darker green stripes. It’s drought-tolerant, easy to care for, and thrives indoors with minimal attention. The plant prefers bright, indirect light for optimal growth and color. Water only when the soil is completely dry (typically, every 2–3 weeks in warm indoor conditions). Repot the plant every 1–2 years in well-draining succulent soil mix if roots are crowded.

Pam Molesky loaned a Monstera Burle Marx’s Flame to Clermont City Hall. The Monstera Burle Marx Flame is a relatively slow-growing Monstera that has lance-shaped leaves when young, but as the plant climbs and matures, the leaves become more heart-shaped and develop a fenestration pattern like a flame. The plant is rare and highly sought after, and is considered a hybrid or mutation of Monstera deliciosa. The plant prefers indirect medium to bright light at temperatures of 65-85°F. Allow soil to drain and dry between waterings.
