Broadway is coming to Montverde Academy! October 17, 2026, January 16, 2027 and April 17, 2027

Montverde Academy is proud to announce the inaugural Fine Arts Marquee Series: Broadway’s Best in Concert, an ambitious new annual concert series bringing three of Broadway’s most celebrated performers to the Sandra O. Stephens Fine Arts Auditorium for three unforgettable evenings during the 2026–27 season.

Acclaimed Broadway stars Rachel York, Marc Kudisch, and Kerry Butler headline three extraordinary, one-night-only concerts and bring Broadway into the classroom with master classes for Montverde Academy students.

Drama Desk Award winner Rachel York opens the series on October 17, three-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch takes the stage on January 16, and Tony Award nominee Kerry Butler completes the inaugural season on April 17.

For Montverde Academy, the series represents something unprecedented: an opportunity for students, families, and audiences throughout Central Florida to experience artists of this caliber not on a screen or from hundreds of miles away, but live and up close on the Academy’s own stage. Unlike a traditional Broadway touring production, Broadway’s Best in Concert puts the focus squarely on the artists. In an intimate concert setting, audiences will experience the remarkable voices, songs, stories, humor, and personalities behind careers that have encompassed some of the most beloved musicals of the last three decades.

The concerts are only part of what makes the Marquee Series special. These Broadway stars won’t just perform at Montverde Academy; they’ll work directly with its students. During each visit, York, Kudisch, and Butler will share their experience and artistry with MVA students through a master class exploring different aspects of musical theatre performance, including Acting with Intention, Storytelling Through Song, and The Art of Musical Comedy.

For aspiring young performers, it is a rare opportunity to work with Broadway artists at the highest level while exploring how a song becomes a story; how an acting choice transforms a performance; and how timing, character, and wit turn musical comedy into an art form.

At the same time, we are opening our doors to the entire Central Florida community for three wonderful nights of entertainment.”

Rachel York – October 17, 2026  – The Marquee Series begins with one of musical theatre’s most versatile leading ladies, Rachel York.

A Drama Desk, Helen Hayes and Carbonell Award winner, York has starred on Broadway in City of Angels, Les Misérables, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Head Over Heels, and, memorably, opposite Dame Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria, for which York received the Drama Desk Award. She also later starred as Reno Sweeney in London’s sold-out West End engagement of Anything Goes and has appeared in concert with major orchestras around the world.  www.rachelyork.com@therachelyork

Marc Kudisch – January 16, 2027 – On January 16, the spotlight turns to one of Broadway’s great leading men, Marc Kudisch.

A three-time Tony Award nominee, Kudisch earned nominations for his performances as Trevor Graydon in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Baron Bomburst in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Franklin Hart in 9 to 5. Most recently, he appeared as Lee Collins in the acclaimed Broadway production of Floyd Collins, his 16th Broadway show.

Kudisch’s remarkable career has spanned Broadway musicals and plays, opera, television, and film. His rich baritone, commanding stage presence, and singular sense of humor have made him equally at home in classic musical theatre, contemporary work, and concert performance.

Kerry Butler – April 17, 2027 –  The inaugural season concludes on April 17 with the irrepressible Kerry Butler, whose Broadway career includes an extraordinary collection of original roles.

Butler earned Tony and Drama League Award nominations for starring as Kira in Xanadu and has originated roles in Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, Catch Me If You Can, Beetlejuice, and Mean Girls. Her Broadway credits also include Rock of Ages,Disaster!, The Best Man, and Les Misérables.

Her work has made her one of Broadway’s most beloved musical-comedy performers, an actress capable of combining a soaring voice with warmth, wit, and a wonderfully individual comic sensibility.
