from David Jones, City of Groveland
The City of Groveland has selected Groveland Police Department Lt. Sammy Anderson to continue his service to the City as GPD’s newest Police Chief.
Amid the departure of the former Chief, Fire Chief Kevin Carroll took on the mantle of interim Public Safety Director. He is now permanent Public Safety Director. Chief Carroll spent weeks conducting one-on-one interviews with members of GPD, completing a comprehensive SWOT analysis and recommendations report for GPD.
One of the clear themes that emerged from that work was a strong desire among GPD employees to see the next Police Chief come from within the organization.
Sammy has built his career in Groveland, spending 15 years serving this community and 23 years in law enforcement overall. He has worked his way through the ranks, most recently serving as Special Operations Lieutenant.
His career is a powerful example of the organization GPD and the City seeks to be: one where people can grow, lead, build a career and serve our community.
Congratulations to GPD Chief Sammy Anderson and Public Safety Director/Fire Chief Kevin Carroll!
