This year, the City of Groveland is partnering with Lake Catherine Blueberries to host the Star-Spangled Spectacular 4th of July Celebration.

The popular event, normally held at Lake David Park, has changed venue to provide more on-site parking and additional space to accommodate attendees. Mayor Dina Sweatt has predicted that this year’s 4th of July will be one to remember.

People of all ages will enjoy an evening of fun-filled activities beginning at 4 pm at Lake Catherine Blueberries, 5849 Lake Catherine Road, Groveland.  Dustin Lowe, manager of Lake Catherine Blueberries, described many of the activities at the event, such as face-painting and pony rides, along with new-generation activities, such as a video-game arcade, gaga dodgeball and water tag. One of the highlights will be BMX riders performing thrilling stunts.

The one and only Florida sanctioned Steak and Dessert cookoff will be held.

Miss and Mr. Firecracker Pageant will be held at 10 am at the Puryear Building, 243 S. Lake Ave. Groveland. Pageant results will be announced during the evening at Lake Catherine Blueberries.

Two stages will feature bands playing a variety of classic rock, bluegrass and Latin music. Enjoy listening to the music of Gunner Down, the Freightliners, Midnight Rising, the Steven Green Band, Mariachi Voces de Mexico as well as Johnny Lee Wyatt & the American Fools.
