Orlando Health South Lake Hospital will offer community tours of its newest free-standing emergency department and medical pavilion on Saturday, July 14, 9 am to 3 pm. The facility is located at 16966 Cagan Ridge Blvd, Clermont, Florida and is scheduled to open for patients July 31.

The new facility is the first free-standing emergency department in the Four Corners area and will provide convenient access to comprehensive healthcare and outpatient services. Currently, families who live, work, or stay in the Four Corners area and surrounding communities must travel between 10 to 15 miles to visit an emergency room.

“With the continued growth this area has seen over the past decade, the Four Corners area has lacked access to healthcare, especially in emergency situations,” commented John Moore, Orlando Health South Lake Hospital president.  “As the healthcare leader in south Lake County, we recognized that need and our 11-acre medical pavilion will now allow us to provide high-quality, accessible emergency and outpatient care close to home for the residents and visitors in this four-county region.”

The Orlando Health South Lake Hospital Joe H. & Loretta Scott Emergency Room and Medical Pavilion will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, staffed by board-certified emergency room physicians, registered nurses and a full support staff.  Features include 12 treatment rooms, a specialized resuscitation room for infants, children and adults, diagnostic imaging such as ultrasound, x-ray and computed tomography (CT), laboratory services and a helipad for air care transfers from the facility if needed.

Outpatient services including diagnostic imaging, laboratory, and outpatient rehabilitation will be available Monday through Friday.  A medical pavilion, including physician offices, will be located on the second floor of the facility and will include a variety of specialties.  The medical pavilion is scheduled to open this winter.

The new ER in Four Corners area is located approximately 14 miles south of the main 140-bed hospital on the Clermont Campus.

During the community open house event, visitors will be able to meet staff and tour the facilities including the emergency department, imaging department, and laboratory.  A Teddy Bear Emergency Room will be open for children to bring in their stuffed animals for treatment of minor aches, pains, illnesses and injuries. Kids’ activities such as face painting will also be available during the open house. South Lake Hospital’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Department will be offering complimentary balance screenings.

Local student artists will be recognized for their artistic contributions to the facility during a recognition ceremony at 10 am on Saturday, July 14. A total of twelve pieces of art were selected from submissions sent in by elementary students in surrounding schools. The artwork will be displayed in the new facility to capture the essence and spirit of the community the facility serves.

In addition to the ER in the Four Corners area, South Lake Hospital expanded the hospital’s emergency services at their main Clermont Campus and opened a second freestanding emergency room and medical pavilion earlier this summer, located in south Leesburg off of US Highway 27.
