New roads and road changes coming to Clermont!
The Florida Expressway Authority is holding an informational meeting at the Clermont Performing Arts Center (3700 S. Highway 27, Clermont) on August 30, at 5:30 PM to 7:30 pm.
The purpose is to display the proposed Lake-Orange Parkway which will run east and west from US27 to the Independence Parkway on SR429. This road is needed to relieve traffic on Hartwood Marsh Road and should also get some heavy-duty trucks off US27 and on to the 429, said Clermont Councilman Ray Goodgame.
Goodgame went on to say that the road will also promote the development of the 21,300-acre Sector Plan.
A planned sport’s complex (see EPIC SPORTS, FITNESS AND WELLNESS COMMUNITY) is ready to bring a development to the north part of the property bordering on this proposed new road.
For traffic control, Clermont must have CR455 (Hartle Rd) extended south to Hartwood Marsh Road and continue south to connect with this proposed new road, said Goodgame.
Clermont – Minnehaha Avenue
Residents living on Minnehaha Avenue attended a recent Clermont City Council meeting to express their concerns regarding safety and traffic along Minnehaha Avenue between 5th Street and Bloxam Avenue. Council voted in favor of placing 4-way stops at Disston and Minnehaha, as well as East and Minnehaha. This should reduce speeding and deter traffic along this route.
