Florida Rush Soccer, a leading provider of youth soccer programming, coaching education and tournament management is joining forces with Lake Lacrosse and US Lacrosse (USL) to launch a new youth developmental lacrosse program. Florida Rush Lacrosse (FLRushlax) will be based out of the Orlando Health National Training Center (NTC) in Lake County for youth ages 6-14 years old.
Florida Rush President & CEO Richie Gray believes the USL Lacrosse Athlete Development Model (LADM) is perfectly aligned with our current US Soccer player development model that we’ve been implementing for years.
“Single sport specialization, which has swept the country, is leaving kids on the sidelines,” stated Gray. “Our leadership team recognizes the benefits of youth sampling a variety of sports – more options mean more kids will find a sport they like and most likely they will play sports longer throughout life. There’s a lot of cross-pollination between these two sports, so introducing lacrosse to our 1800+ soccer families will create an immediate benefit for youth athletes in our community.”
“Lake Lacrosse is excited about partnering with Florida Rush Soccer to add Florida Rush Lacrosse”, stated Chris Gourdie, President of Lake Lacrosse. “Florida Rush is a top-notch sports organization that has the resources needed to grow the sport of lacrosse. Rather than trying to get kids to pick one sport over another, we will be able to provide an opportunity for them to be able to play both, by working around each other’s seasons. ”
“The partnership between Florida Rush Soccer and Lake Lacrosse to form this new developmental program will be a game-changer for youth athletes in the region,” said Lou Corsetti, southeast regional director for US Lacrosse. “There are numerous benefits of being a multi-sport athlete and we’re excited to introduce the sport, starting with the upcoming TryLax clinic, to youth athletes in the community.”
“We are thrilled to welcome this new collaboration with Lake Lacrosse, US Lacrosse and Florida Rush Lacrosse to our facility,” commented Kim Couch, director of the NTC. “We share a common goal of exposing youth to sports at an early age to develop a lifetime of physical activity. Exploration of a variety of sports is so important and growing lacrosse in Lake County on our Orlando Health South Lake Hospital campus will be a tremendous benefit for our community.”
FLRushlax in partnership with US Lacrosse will launch this new initiative on December 14, 2019 by hosting a TryLax™ Clinic at the Orlando Health National Training Center from 1-2:30 pm.TryLax™ clinics are a 90-minute, introductory lacrosse experience for kids who have never played before but are thinking they might want to try the sport. The clinic features US Lacrosse designed curriculum delivered by coaches from local lacrosse programs. Players can register online at https://www.flrushsc.com/flrushlax
