The City of Clermont and Christian Men in Action invite the public to participate in Keeping the Dream Alive, a day of remembrance and fun. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and festivities continue from 11 am – 4 pm, Monday, January 20, in Clermont’s Downtown-Waterfront District.

“It’s important that the Clermont community takes time to celebrate Dr. King and his message of inclusivity,” City Manager Darren Gray said. “We thank Christian Men in Action for partnering with us to put on this annual event.”

The celebration kicks off with the city’s second annual parade at 10 am starting from McKinney Park, 801 Bloxam Avenue. The route will head west on Desoto Street and north on East Avenue, ending at Waterfront Park, 330 3rd Street.

After the parade, enjoy food, live entertainment and games from 11 am -4 pm at Waterfront Park. A kickoff ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. with a few words from dignitaries. Entertainment will be provided by Willie Green Music Productions, GetchaPraiseOn Productions and South Lake Black Achievers.

“We put on this event to keep Dr. King’s dream alive, so we can all come together no matter what race, creed or color and live harmoniously,” said event organizer Tim Murry with Christian Men in Action. “Honoring him on this day is just one way to accomplish that.”

Last year, a sign dedication was held on Bloxam Avenue officiated by Clermont Mayor Gail Ash. The ceremony was followed by the first annual parade to Clermont Waterfront Park, where the day continued with fun and celebration.

“Love, not hate, will make America great.”
