The City of Clermont’s downtown promotional video recently won two public relations awards. Businesses are opened, following COVID-19 safety regulations, and ready to greet you. Visit downtown Clermont and see what’s happening!
The video promotes Clermont’s recently reenergized downtown resulting from the city’s Downtown-Waterfront Master Plan. The video won a Judges Award and an Award of Distinction from the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA)’s 2020 Mid-Florida Image Awards on April 16.
“We were thrilled to showcase the positive impact our Master Plan has had on Downtown Clermont with this upbeat, high-quality video,” Clermont City Manager Darren Gray said. “It brings home the message that there’s something new for everyone to enjoy in Downtown Clermont.”
The video highlights downtown’s new breweries, shops and restaurants. It features the Master Plan’s recently completed Victory Pointe Park, welcome towers, trail extensions and boat ramp on picturesque Lake Minneola. Events like the farmer’s market, live music nights, wine walks and trivia nights also are spotlighted.
The 2-minute film premiered at Gray’s annual high-profile State of the City Address in January. It received an overwhelming response from key stakeholders and news media.
“We appreciate the community sharing the video on their websites and social media,” Gray said. “We hope the announcement of these awards will inspire more people to watch and share the video and to visit Downtown Clermont soon. We need to rally around our downtown in these trying times and generate excitement for their safe reopening in the future.”
FPRA held a Facebook Live award ceremony to announce the winners. The Image Awards have become a standard of public relations excellence in Florida. Winners demonstrate examples of innovation, planning and design.
Clermont’s Communications Department consists of Communications Director Kathryn Deen, who is a member of FPRA’s Lake County Chapter, and Communications Coordinator Jennifer Clutts.
“FPRA’s Image Awards are a showcase of the intentional and data-informed approach that we as PR professionals employ daily in our work,” FPRA Lake Chapter President Kevin Yurasek said. “Congratulations to all the winners, and I’m especially proud of our Lake County Chapter members for winning their first Image Awards.”
The Judges Award is given to an outstanding entry that achieves maximum results while using a minimum amount of money. The Award of Distinction is presented to all entries that meet the five criteria of excellence set by the panel of judges. The city’s submission competed with private and public corporations, government entities, non-profit organizations and other firms in multiple FPRA chapters.
The city entered the video in the Institutional Video category of the Digital Tools of Public Relations division of FPRA’s Mid-Florida Image Awards. LCStudioS’ Cameus Chicoye, a Clermont resident, shot and edited the film under the city’s direction.
