Orlando Health, a non-profit healthcare organization headquartered in Orlando, Fla., today announced it will acquire Medical Center Radiology Group (MCRG), whose board-certified radiologists interpret medical imaging for the healthcare system. The acquisition will further leverage the expertise of the radiology group and support the ongoing investment in patient care. The acquisition will be effective October 1.
“Orlando Health enjoys partnering with high-quality and talented physicians,” said Sunil Desai, MD, president, Orlando Health Medical Group. “We are fortunate to have Medical Center Radiology Group join our health system. Their reputation as hard workers who think beyond themselves and strive for clinical excellence are attributes we look for in all of our physician partners. As Orlando Health continues to thoughtfully grow, we believe this acquisition will positively impact the lives of our patients for years to come.”
Medical imaging plays a significant role in healthcare as it’s required for making diagnoses, planning treatments, and preventing future illness and injury. In addition to enhanced delivery of imaging services because of the acquisition, Orlando Health patients who require these services will also benefit from consolidated billing, clinical standardization, and the growth of the group to include greater subspecialization—which will be in alignment with the Orlando Health Medical Group and the subspecialties its physicians provide.
The partnership between Orlando Health and MCRG began in 1949, when Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center was previously known as Orange Memorial Hospital. With the acquisition, MCRG physicians and staff will become Orlando Health’s team members.
“The team at MCRG is excited about fully integrating into the Orlando Health network,” stated Dr. Nishith Patel, president of MCRG. “Our vision has always been to elevate the standard for imaging excellence, and this alignment will further advance our ability to make a positive impact on the health of each and every person we serve in the community.”
