On Friday, August 19, The South Lake Chamber of Commerce welcomed First Responders to its First Responders Appreciation Breakfast at the Clermont Performing Arts Center.
Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway kicked off the morning’s program and introduced the Lake Minneola Band, who brought community spirit to the event.
Following were the Presentation of the Colors, the National Anthem sung by Pam Jones of Congressman Daniel Webster’s Office, and the invocation by Chaplain Mike Saxe of the Clermont Police Department.
Clermont City Manager Brian Bulthuis recognized first responders, the men and women who place their lives on the line daily, and how extremely grateful South Lake is for these individuals and their efforts!
As a token of appreciation, medals were given to the leaders of the county’s first responders and thanks was extended to them for their service. Recognition included:
• Chief Charles Broadway – Clermont Police Department
• Chief Kevin Carroll – Groveland Fire Department
• Chief James Dickerson – Lake County Office of Fire Rescue
• Chief David Ezell – Clermont Fire Department
• Sheriff Peyton Grinnell – Lake County Sheriff Department
• Chief Eric Pedersen – Mascotte Police Department
• Chief Shawn Ramsey – Groveland Police Department
• Chief Rick Thomas – Howey in the Hills Police Department
Congressman Daniel Webster and Commissioner Sean Parks presented medals to each of the first responders from Clermont Fire Department, Clermont Police Department, Groveland Fire Department, Groveland Police Department, Howey in the Hills Police Department, Lake County Fire Rescue & EMS, Lake County Sheriff’s Department, Mascotte Police Department.
The room was filled with standing applause following the presentations.
Dave Colby, president and CEO of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce was pleasantly surprised when he was recognized by the cities of Clermont and Groveland for his commitment to the community.
