Lisa Harris, President and Kathy Henderson, Show Director of the South Lake Art League are pleased to announce the opening of their newest Fall 2022 Fine Art Photography Show. This exciting new show will be on display through October 4. The community is invited to stop by to see that show as well as the other current exhibits of member artwork, while voting for your favorites. People’s Choice Honors will be awarded at the end of this exhibition. SLAL President Lisa Harris notes, “We invite everyone to stop by the South Lake Art League Gallery to support our local artists.
Photography Show Awards: With 30 pieces in three separately themed topics, the first award competition category is for Manmade, People, Monochrome, Black & White Photographs’. Laura Serdiuk won first place ribbon honors with ‘Great Egret’. Second Place went to Cheryl Chaplin with ‘Til it hurts!’ and third place honors were awarded to Kathryn Wise with ‘Old St. Augustine’. The ‘Creative Photography’ category awards were presented to Laura Howell with First Place for ‘Splash of Color’. Second Place to Marie Dudek Brown for ‘Sunflowers’ and Third Place to Laura Howell for ‘Bare Trees’. In the ‘Landscape, Waterscape & Nature’ category, John Ruggeri earned First Place honors with ‘No Escape’. Second Place was awarded to John Ruggeri for ‘Escargot and Third Place went to Cheryl Chaplin for ‘Rock & Relax’. The Best of Show Award went to John Ruggeri for ‘Alaskan Sushi’.
SLAL Membership Benefits: It is always a great time for all local artists to join the South Lake Art League. The SLAL Gallery offers two-member art shows in the spring and fall as well as two-member fine art photography shows per year. Member’s websites are linked to the SLAL website. Members receive discounted fees on special workshops and classes. Their SLAL Photography Club offers valuable photo instructional meetings. SLAL members are encouraged to volunteer to help with various projects, activities and gallery sitting.
The South Lake Art League strives to promote all forms of art and its appreciation throughout the South Lake County Area. They work to bring together people interested in the arts and to provide opportunities for participation in classes, workshops and shows. They offer art classes in acrylics, colored pencils, drawing, mixed media, oils, pastels, fine art photography, Zentangle and watercolor with other art-related events.
The Fall Fine Art Show for SLAL members will open on October 8 at 10 am with a special award presentation and reception. The four art categories will include 1. Mixed Media, Zentangle and Zentangled inspired Art Collage, 2. Watercolor and Water Based Pen & Ink, 3. Acrylic and Oil, 4. Pastels, Colored Pencil, Pencil & Ink. Visit their website to enter up to 3 pieces of your artwork by September 22. Future art exhibits will include artwork and photography submissions from elementary and high school students. The High School Art Show reception will be on November 12 starting at 10 am.
Celebrating The Fine Arts In Clermont, Florida: SLAL fine art and photography shows are held in the spring and fall. Children’s Art Classes are held every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6 pm for ages 8 to 12 years. Come to the SLAL Art Gallery to look at their exhibits, purchase artwork, make donations, and support the arts. There are plenty of wonderful opportunities to celebrate the arts here in Central Florida.
