Lecture, Cooper Concert Series, Cooking Demonstration & Opera 

The Cooper Memorial Library will host several programs in November including a Native American history lecture presented by Jim Sawgrass, a musical performance by Lake Concert Band, a cooking demonstration just in time for Thanksgiving and the monthly Friends Opera Club. 

On Thursday, November 9, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. in Room 108, the library will present host Jim Sawgrass as he delivers a lecture on local Native American history and exhibits Native American tools. Sawgrass is a native Floridian of Muscogee Creek descent and living historian of the Southeastern tribes of Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. He served on the Florida Indian Council from 1991-1995. 

As part of the ongoing Cooper Concert Series, the Library will host the Lake Concert Band on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Room 108. For over 25 years the Lake Concert Band has entertained thousands of Central Florida residents at concerts, parades, and community events. They perform a variety of music including marches, Latin tunes, classics, big band hits and Broadway melodies. 

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Chef Warren Caterson will host a cooking demonstration on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. in Room 108. Chef Warren’s informative and energetic hour-long presentation, Thankful Thanksgivings – The No-Fuss No-Muss Way to Enjoy the Holiday will teach tips to ensure that this year’s Thanksgiving meal is a success, from roasting a turkey, preparing sides, and creating delicious leftovers.
