The Clermont Performing Arts Center is proud to announce “On Golden Pond” is coming to the Center’s Main Stage on March 31 at 8 pm.

Many are familiar with the story through the Academy Award-winning film starring father-and-daughter legends, Henry and Jane Fonda, and the incomparable Katharine Hepburn. The theater version is also popular and has been performed in front of thousands. Critics agree this extraordinary play, penned by Ernest Thompson, resonates in a deep, profound way with audiences.

Beguilingly simple, this tale of a single family and how they pull apart and then find each other has been touching audiences for decades. The play, performed by the acclaimed Montana Repertory Theater, has endured because it deals with a family in crisis in a humane, poetic and often funny way.

The principal roles are played by actors whose past credits include Broadway and national touring productions of blockbusters, such as “A Chorus Line,” “My Fair Lady” and “Cabaret.”

“The Washington Post” raved: ‘“On Golden Pond’ is a beautiful play, richly comical on the surface, deeply moving below. The sort of play many theatergoers have been missing, its acceptance and affirmation of life not unlike the quality Thornton Wilder poured into Our Town.”
