Douglas Fernandez has an excellent knowledge of the Cuban flora and fauna and has traveled extensively throughout the island to conduct research. Douglas has published a number of articles on Cuban butterflies and contributed a chapter on their biology to the book Lepidopteros de Cuba. He is currently working on field guides to Cuban butterflies and wildflowers.

Following the presentation, Douglas will be joined by Dr. Marc Minno and guests on a tour of flora and fauna of the Florida Scrub-Jay Trail.
