Debra Smidt, President of the Clermont Garden Club, is pictured with the five Florida Federation of Garden Club awards that the CGC recently won.  Two of the awards, “Yard of the Month” and “Garden Walk”, are events which the CGC holds to stimulate a knowledge and love of gardening and to encourage civic beautification.

For “Yard of the Month”, the garden club identifies yards worthy of being recognized, prepares information about the plantings, places a sign in the yard and provides publicity about the yard.  The annual Garden Walk gives the public an opportunity to purchase tickets to tour the yards of private residential gardens.

If you would like to have your yard considered for Yard of the Month or for the next Garden Walk (which will be held October 20), contact Sandi Eckstein at gtesse@aol.com or Margaret Piper at flowergal@cfl.rr.com.
