Thankfully, Florida was able to avoid the wrath of Hurricane Florence, which brought catastrophic flooding and damage to North Carolina over the weekend. In fact, our weather has been quite the opposite. Without the typical afternoon showers to cool everything off, this week has been miserably hot. Despite the blazing heat and cloudless sky, 87 people came out to run, jog, and walk the 3.1-mile course around Lake Minneola at this weekend’s parkrun. 16 of them were first timers and 13 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 15 different clubs took part.

Jeremy Arguelles finished first place this weekend with a time of 17:33. Coming in second was overseas visitor Rich Mcaleer in 18:29, followed close behind by fellow Englishman Chris Bramwell in 18:40.

Topping the podium on the female side was Dayle Walker in 23:52. Right behind was Kate Williams in 24:14, then Caroline Whitehouse in 25:56.
Milestones this week included Jon Walker from England, who ran his 125th parkrun here in Clermont! That’s equivalent to about 2 and a half years of weekly parkruns! And watch out for next week, because right now there are three people at 99 parkruns!
