Mike Smith and Kenny Nadeau, first met in Missouri where they learned to appreciate the intricacies and flavors of smoking and curing meats. Both Mike and Kenny moved to Florida and enjoyed barbecuing for family and friends. After lots of encouragement and prompting from family and friends, they started Uncle Kenny’s BBQ in 2004 and began catering private events and festivals,

A year later they decided to start testing their skills against the best in the area. Uncle Kenny’s BBQ participated in BBQ competitions sanctioned under the Florida Barbeque Association (FBA) and Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS).

In April 2009, Uncle Kenny’s BBQ was opened at 157 N. Highway 27 (at the Citrus Tower).  The restaurant and menu grew and St. Louis Style Pizza was added.

Then came COVID.

Uncle Kenny’s BBQ and St. Louis Pizza has suffered shortages, staffing issues and many other unforeseen challenges.

Owner Kenny Nadeau recently announced that the restaurant will be closing.  He states:

“It breaks my heart to say the rumor is true. It has been an honor to serve this community for over 10 years. The relationships and families we have met are what will be missed most. The privilege of knowing the great employees and their families will always hold a special place in my heart.  I appreciate and thank you for your support and am happy that  I was able to bring the flavors of St. Louis to Central Florida for the time that we did”.

Once again, this is a very tough decision. Thank you for your support and understanding”.
