At July 12 Clermont City Council meeting, a conditional use permit (CUP) was requested to allow for the construction of the 108 condominium units as a third phase of the 1998 Master Development Plan.

The 1998 Master Development Plan permitted for 205 multi-family units and 266 townhome/condo units (The Yacht Club) built in three phases.

As part of the first and second phase, the developer constructed approximately 158 of townhome/condominium units and the recreation amenities for the project. The developer never moved forward with the third phase and the construction of the remaining 108 units.

In 2008, the developer approached the city advising that they would not be completing the third phase and requested and received a refund of all impact fees paid for the third phase. The permit became null and void.

After consideration and input from neighboring residents, the request for approval to allow for the construction of the 108 condominium units (Phase 3 of the development) at the Clermont Yacht Club, overlooking Lake Minneola, near Waterfront Park, was denied.
