The Kiwanis Club of Clermont held its 97th Installation of Officers, that’s correct 97th Installation, at its September meeting. The Installation and dinner were held at Green Valley Country Club and Grill. Past Kiwanian Florida Governor C Todd Smith presided over the ceremony.

Chuck Seaver was installed as the 2022-23 president. This is not President Seaver’s first go-round as the club’s leader. For the past two years, he and his dynamite duo, Secretary Thom Battisto and Treasurer Kathy Scherer, have been helping to create strong community support filled with love, sharing and caring. Board of Directors members Audrey Jackson-Morgan, Joan Kyle, Marion DeAnnuntis and Bobbi Holmes have helped to lead the way with over 50+ Kiwanian members involved in community service.

The Kiwanis Club of Clermont has been providing service to the community and children in the South Lake area since January 28, 1926.  They primarily serve the children of South Lake County with such programs as “Terrific Kids,” “Bringing up Grades,” “Reading is Fundamental,” Special Olympics and Miracle League. They sponsor The Boys and Girls Club, Prayer Breakfasts, Take Stock in Children Scholarships and Mentoring* as well as an Annual Christmas Party for local needy children. They conduct American Flag installations at Oak Hill Cemetery to honor veterans and massive Light up Center Lake Christmas Displays in Clermont.  They maintain K-Kids, Builders Clubs and Key Clubs in Elementary, Middle and High Schools in the South Lake area. They co-sponsored an AKTION Club, for adults with special needs, in conjunction with Building Blocks Ministries.  The club also participates in many “Young Children Priority One” projects such as the volunteer reading series at the Head Start Program in Clermont.

Kiwanis Awards were presented by President Chuck Seaver. He gave a Big thank you and certificate to Thom Battisto, who has devoted many, many hours of service to Kiwanis and the community.
