The Clermont Historical Society hosted its 5th annual Heritage Day Festival on Saturday, November 5th on the grounds of the Clermont Historic Village.  The fun-filled day included old-time games for children of all ages to enjoy, the opportunity to try one’s hand at making rope, hammering nails & using a scrub board to wash clothes, samples of home-made butter & ice cream, and much, much more.

Chances on beautiful gift baskets filled with merchandise donated by many local businesses and an amazing firepit from Lowe’s were sold.  The drawings will not be until after Light-Up Clermont & and the Christmas Parade so there is plenty of time to come by the Village any Saturday or Sunday from 1:00 -4:00 PM to buy some for yourself!

Special “Thank Yous” go out to the Model T owners who had their beautiful cars on display, to Read to Sydney for sharing Sunny and free books with the children attending the festival, to Otis & Sandra Taylor from Give A Day Foundation for their work with the children making friendship bracelets & decorating fans, to YouTubers Aiden “Captain A” Cardoza and his mom Monica Gardoni-Cardoza, and SySy “Captain SySy” Borden and his mom Sophia Borden, to Sharon Keys & Shannon Herrera from the Lincoln Park/South Lake Alliance for giving out the home-made ice cream & sharing the significance of the Lincoln Park School with all the people who came and learned about Clermont’s history while have a fun-filled day, and especially to all the wonderful volunteers who made the day the success it was.  A very special “Thank You” goes to our two sponsors who provided the delicious food for our lunches; OakWood Smokehouse & Grill for the great pulled pork sandwiches and Sweet Creations by Karla for amazing cookies.

The Historic Village is a unique partnership between the City of Clermont and the Clermont Historical Society.  Together they have created a beautiful village consisting of five buildings that played important roles in the city’s history as well as three replicas designed to add to the feel of what life was like here 100+ years ago.  Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola, the Village is an ideal place to spend a peaceful afternoon.  There are picnic tables that families frequently use to have a meal and look out at the lake.  The village’s location, 490 West Avenue, is just a short walk from downtown Clermont with its lovely shops, restaurants & breweries.
